I've never been this far away from home

Went to java grotto tonight for open mike night. I don't really like going on Thursday nights. I love going to java grotto because it's on the lakefront, it's peaceful, and quiet. But there are so many people there on Thursday nights. It's too crowded. And trendy. I'm sick of being trendy. I think it's time I outgrew that.

I know what I'm doing at the hospital now, pediatrics. I'm really excited. Alot of people think it's weird, or scary, or stupid of me but I really care about this. I really care about working hard, and helping kids, and sacrificing a part of my life for it, for others. It makes me feel so purposeful, like my life has meaning. I'm not the best at science in the world. I'm not bad or anything. I just don't have the natural proficiency that I have with English. But right now I think this is what I want. I can work hard for the science part of it.

I'm ready to grow up. I guess that Peter Pan complex eluded me...
